Many call it “modern day slavery,” and Tennessee is starting to see that it is happening in their own state. FBI Knoxville Agent Cynthia Deitle: “In sex trafficking, specifically, traffickers – or pimps – target young girls. Traffickers know where to find the victims, and they know a lot of young kids are on these social media sites.”
Helena Hassani was only 11 years old when she was coerced into marriage. Years later, after fighting for her independence through education, she secured a divorce and rebuilt her life. Today, she is raising awareness about forced marriage in Australia as reports of it continue to rise.
