We’re hiring: Administrator

 

Freedom United is seeking a dedicated and experienced senior Administrator to join our team in a part-time, remote capacity. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone highly-organized, who is looking to transition into the nonprofit space and make a meaningful impact. The Administrator will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with US regulations, and handling basic financial tasks. The postholder will also provide administrative support to the campaigns team.

Freedom United is a Stop Slavery Campaigns Award finalist, respected for our ability to mobilize supporters and build power through digital campaigns for a world in which slavery no longer thrives. We are recognised for our My Story, My Dignity campaign, and topical issues including prison slavery, as well as building bridges between sex workers and the movement against trafficking.

We are looking for an experienced, highly organized and flexible self-starter who is inspired by our mission to end modern slavery. The ideal candidate values integrity; is detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently.

Part-time contractor (20-25 hours a week, mornings Monday through Friday preferred)

Location: Remote, home based (time zone preference EST +/- 2 or willingness to work on that time zone)

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high level of organization and efficiency in all administrative tasks.
• Ensure Freedom United is compliant with US regulations related to fundraising, tax, and employment.
• Support internal processes, primarily maintaining accurate and complete records.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders, including donors, vendors, and government agencies.
• Assist in organizing fundraising events and campaigns, as needed.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals, reports, and other documents as required.
• Collaborate with accountants to ensure accurate bookkeeping and timely financial reports.
• Maintain proper record-keeping systems and databases for efficient data management.
• Works closely with the Executive Director to ensure the smooth running of the organization.
• Provide administrative support to the campaigns team, including scheduling, documentation, and coordination.
• Proactively identifying and progressing Freedom United’s administrative needs.
• Support the Freedom United team and be ready and willing to step in when needed to execute their work efficiently.

Experience and skills:

• At least 5 years’ experience with increasing seniority/responsibility in administration, operations, compliance, in any setting, including the private sector.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
• Familiarity with US compliance regulations, particularly in the areas of fundraising, tax, and employment, an asset.
• Understanding of basic finance processes, including receipts, invoicing, and financial records.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Comfortable working remotely and as a contractor.
• A proactive and self-starting mindset, demonstrating self-motivation in getting tasks done in a timely manner independently.
• Demonstrated confidence in using technology and software tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
• Self-motivated and proactive, able to take initiative and find solutions to challenges and identifying areas for improvement.
• Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures to enhance organizational efficiency.
• Basic understanding of finance processes, including receipts, invoicing, and record-keeping.
• Ability to work collaborative in a small, global team environment.
• Maintain flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
• Be highly motivated and inspired by the mission to end modern slavery.
