Sex Traffickers Using Online Sources to Lure

Nicole was only 17-year-old when she met a man online who told her he would take care of her while her mother served time in prison…

That same man allowed other men all across America to purchase her.  When she was in her 20s she finally escaped her traffickers, but by then she was badly injured by a “client”.  These stories are not unusual.  Social media has increased the threat to teenagers who are vulnerable.  So often traffickers and victims meet online.  They use Facebook, Twitter, snapchat, and many other online tools.  All a predator needs to make a lot of money is for just one girl to respond.  Andrea Powell, founder and director of FAIR Girls, an organization that helped Nicole, says: “In some cases you have really stupid traffickers who leave mountains and mountains of email trails…”
