In this latest investigative series, The Toronto Star looks at how sex trafficking in Toronto is an issue in order to enlighten the public that it happens not only across the globe, but right at home too…

Young people on the streets are the most vulnerable to trafficking.  They are approached online, in shopping malls and on school grounds. There are more and more girls on the radar of traffickers, like the girl next door from a middle class, ordinary home.  Law enforcement is greater lately, but more and more victims need assistance.  Recovery for these girls is challenging and long.  They are faced with physical, emotional, and mental issues. The Covenant House Toronto provides services and prevention education and takes on the role of advocate…hoping to see a greater anti-trafficking plan in place with 24/7 support in the future.
