Delhi’s Plan to Assist Trafficking Victims

Delhi plans to start a skills development and job program to assist victims of trafficking…

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), Swati Maliwal, explained that after the first committee meeting a task force will create a draft of a rehab policy for victims of trafficking. “Under this policy, trafficking victims would get skill development training and job placements.” Private businesses may also offer support.  In 2014, 2,676 children were rescued from trafficking compared to 3,834 in 2013.  The 2014 Global Slavery Index estimates India has more than 14 million victims of modern day slavery.
