Migrants Often Work Far from Family

Being a migrant or a low-paid worker may lead to debt bondage, sentencing victims to long, hard work schedules far from home and family.

Many low-income workers, especially migrant workers, are simply trying to gain a better opportunity.  Whether they do or do not have valid work visas.   But since many pay high prices to “recruiters”. they sometimes need to sell their property and/or borrow money, ultimately ending up in debt bondage.  They may take jobs far from their home and loved ones working difficult and long hours cleaning, farming, laundering, etc.
