Oklahoma is the 17th state in the US to raise the legal age of marriage to 18 without exceptions. With the newly passed legislation, the state removes existing exceptions that allow minors to marry with parental consent or court approval.
This is a bigger step in the nationwide campaign to end child marriage nationwide. Seventeen states down, thirty three to go—we’re a third of the way there! Every state that steps up strengthens the movement.
Let’s keep going. Every child, in every state, deserves the same protection.
