With over 100 international manufacturers of automotive parts or cars having some exposure to materials or products made with Uyghur forced labor, whether in the Uyghur Region itself or through labor transfers and around 10% of the world’s global aluminum production based in the Uyghur Region, practically every car part requires heightened scrutiny to ensure that it is not linked to Uyghur forced labor.

We are calling on the world’s biggest car companies to cease sourcing all products mined, made, or manufactured, in whole or in part, in the Uyghur Region, including via companies that have accepted governmentsupplied laborers from the Uyghur Region.

Volkswagen, Toyota, Stellantis, MercedesBenz, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Tesla, Nissan and BYD must thoroughly investigate and publicly report on the links to the Uyghur forced labor system in their supply chains identified by the report ‘Driving Force: Automotive Supply Chains and Forced Labor in the Uyghur Region’ and take necessary action to break these ties.
