Domestic Workers Advocacy Network (DoWAN)

Domestic Workers Advocacy Network (DoWAN) is a female led collective to empower women who were previously subject to slavery. We are survivors of modern day slavery and the Kafala system in West Asia . DoWAN was established in 2020 for women who have been subjected to domestic servitude. Since our establishment we have registered approximately 200+ former Migrant Domestic Workers repatriated from Lebanon back to Sierra Leone. We advocate for our Sisters rights through sharing their stories and raising awareness of Kafala in Sierra Leone. Our campaign is to empower women, advocate, raise awareness & to prevent women from being trafficked and forced into slavery. Our fight will not stop until Kafala is abolished.
